Day 13: Passing on the Faith

#THEN&NOW (1)

#Then: Memories from the late Canon Swithun Juma who was born in 1897 make for fascinating reading. He was the Uncle of the late Fr Paulo Litumbe, the first Bishop of Niassa. Canon Juma and his wife Mary were instrumental in Paulo Litumbe’s faith as he went to live with them as a boy in Cobue.

#Now: The Christian faith was passed from Swithun & Mary Juma to their nephew Paulo Litumbe and he in turn passed it onto his family and so many thousands of others as the first Anglican Bishop of Niassa. Wherever you are, you have the opportunity to pass on your faith, in words, actions or by sacrifice, forgiveness or prayer. Will you do it?

Lord Jesus, we thank you for the example of Swithun & Mary Juma and that they passed their faith onto Paulo Litumbe. We pray that same faith will continue to be passed onto generations in Mozambique and Angola. Amen.
